This week I’ve been busy conditioning several pounds of clay and rolling it into sheets. Why? Because starting tomorrow, I will be attending three days of workshops with Sarah Shriver. Just about anyone who has spent any amount of time working with polymer clay has heard of Sarah Shriver and seen her jaw-dropping amazing cane work. Since caning is my polymer clay ‘thing’, she has long been at the top of my list of polymer artists whose workshops I’ve wanted to take. Now I’m finally getting the opportunity. I’m excited and a little nervous too. I feel like Mike Myers and Dana Carvey in Wayne’s World. Remember when they meet their idol and all they can repeat is “I’m not worthy ! I’m not worthy!”
The Bead House in Bristol, RI is hosting the workshops. In addition to their ‘in-house’ workshops, they have booked an all-star lineup of guest instructors in beading and wire work as well as polymer clay. It is worth taking a look at their website to see all they have to offer. Tomorrow Sarah will be showing us how to make a Celtic Knot cane. On Saturday and Sunday, we will learn to make those incredibly complex kaleidoscope canes that are her claim to fame…By Sunday night I will probably be brain dead and will need to crash for a couple of days!
Once I have recovered, I plan to share my workshop experience, and maybe even a few photos, so I hope you’ll drop by !
Oh – I envy you so so so much – I’m green eyed with envy! You are so fortunate! Do show us what you create! Have fun. Kylee
